Augustina Angelina Sylverken (PhD) holds a PhD in Clinical Microbiology from the Department of Clinical Microbiology, KNUST-Kumasi. She did her post-doctoral research studies at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research into Tropical Medicine (KCCR) and the Institute of Virology, University of Bonn Medical Centre, Germany. During this time, she focused on using wildlife, human interaction and livestock to study the transmission interface of Coronaviruses. She has extensive experience and expertise in the molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases. Dr. Sylverken is interested in the characterization of novel viruses especially those of zoonotic origin. Her ongoing projects are focused in the areas of wildlife, livestock and human interactions, tuberculosis and meningitis. She is an affiliate of the African Academy of Sciences, 2016-2020.
