About Us

With the introduction of the Collegiate System, the name of the Department of Biological Sciences was changed to the Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology in conformity with the review of course structure and content of syllabi.

The department currently runs two undergraduate programmes: a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree programme in Biological Science, and a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree programme in Environmental Science. The department also runs a 2-year Master of Science degree programme in Environmental Science, which can be pursued either as a regular course or by distance learning. In addition, there are graduate research programmes leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Environmental Science, and the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in the major disciplines in the Biological Sciences including Microbiology, Parasitology, Ecology, Fresh Water Studies, and Physiology.
